The BNSF Transcon line runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, and goes through many scenic areas along the way. One such place is the portion of the line in Oklahoma.
In this program, we follow the Transcon from the state lines of Kansas and Texas through western Oklahoma over the steep Curtis Hill grade.
This is heavy duty mainline railroading, and by the time trains reach the top of Curtis Hill, they are often down to a crawl. A really interesting place to watch trains.
Follow trains from Kiowa, Kansas to Higgins, Texas through western Oklahoma.
Watch trains crawling up the steep grade of Curtis Hill.
See many grain elevator towns.
Enjoy the change of scenery as the line takes on a more "western" feel.
Enjoy great contemporary freight action on one of BNSF's busiest lines.
1 hour. Includes chapter menus.

There are a big variety of diesels between Kiowa Kansas & Higgins Texas at locations like Capron, Brink, Noel with a Santa Fe Warbonet, Avard Junction, Waynoka with former Illinois Central GP9 number 2511 on display, Herman, the Belva Crossovers, Quintan, Curtis Hill, Mooreland, Woodward, Gage, Shattuck with Chopped Nosed GP9 number 1005 being stored on Memorial Day weekend, & Goodwin Oklahoma. Besides BNSF with one Dash 9-44CW having the same number as a Union Pacific 0-6-0 at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento (4466 that is), there are other road names like Canadian Pacific, Ferromex, Norfolk Southern & Union Pacific. Some flashbacks to the AT&SF in 1995 was used as these footages were used in the rare Santa Fe Mainline Series 3 part set on VHS, Santa Fe's Mainline Memories from 2003, & even the Alphabet Train from 1998. The Music by the late Mike Lynch in the Main Menu contains the song that was used in the Closing Credits of the 1999 Version of The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, & also on the 2020 title: Semaphores, Searchlights, & the Southwest Chief.
