An incredible journey back in time when MLW's ruled Canadian Pacific's Quebec Division!

In the late 1980's on Canadian Pacific's Quebec Division, the machines of Montreal Locomotive Works reigned supreme. The Canadian Pacific operated pure sets of MLW's on its main line and several branch lines, along with its subsidiary, the Quebec Central. Volume One focuses on CP's Mainline, and the rewards of chasing several trains, along with a look at the Newport (VT) Subdivision, the Quebec Central's Vallee Subdivision. The program wraps up with an exciting ride on M636 4739!

Volume Two starts with action at Smiths Falls, Ontario, including an outstanding pacing sequence. Then we head to Quebec, where the C.P.R. operated pure sets of MLW's on its main line and branch lines. We also take a side trip to see CN and VIA action in the Drummondville, Quebec area. Also included is a short visit to the Roberval & Saguenay Railway and a glimpse at the Alco S6's on the isolated Asbestos and Danville Railroad. Then it's back to the CP mainline for several exciting chases. This volume also includes a cab ride in RS18u 1839 for a trip on the Drummondville Subdivision!

Also available as individual volumes (1 & 2)

I could sit for hours on end !! Alcos are the best locomotive around ! Its too bad that all the alcos are gone into history but the dvds bring back the sounds of alcos back to life .Would be neat to see more CN alco power on the dvd s as well !! Maybe a dvd devoted to CN alco s But over all the different areas where tracks don't run on the dvds were great !! Keep up the great work I"m sure happy with the alco dvd !! David from Pembroke Ontario Canada !

What was it like on the Quebec Central Railway line? This is one of the rare videos (it is the only one I know) that shows this Railway. My favorite part is the extremely rare, also the longest footage (about 10+ min) I have seen of CP MLW RS-18 HIGH HOOD, which is not mentioned on the dvd's decription. This part was in vol 1.

What I like mostly in volume 2 is the rs-18u's cab ride

The image quality is good for that time.If you like scenery and chasing trains, you will like it.

If your important criteria is hearing alco's engine sounds you wont like it because it was not filmed for that purpose. You will mostly hear trains passing.

Unfortunately this MLW era is gone forever but these dvds keeps track of it!

Excellent. I have never been to this area, but I thought the choice of locations was well thought out. And the fact that the videos were done in the mid 80's, they were of good quality.

A very well done set, with images that can't be repeated. Of particular enjoyment, at least for me, is the cab rides. The extended cab ride in volume 2 is priceless. Unfortunately the commentary by those involved with the operation and care of the Alcos are contained in the accompanying booklet and are not on the dvd's. Interesting, but short commentary. If you like Alcos, you will want this set.
