year of the big boy vol.3 (the last of the video of 3 vol set) looks at union pacific 4014 in the fall of 2019 this would mark the last tour of 2019 for the big boy the trip for the western states was named the great race across the southwest (this video covers the first portion of the tour in october) the video begins with coverage staring in las vegas nevada to california this would mark the first time the 4014 visited the golden state since it was restored (when it was originally on display at the railgiants museum) the big boy would operate on the chima subdivision climbing chima hill and afton canyon than travailing once again on trackage rights on the bnsf over the famed cajon pass the railgiants museum would host two public excursions that would operate on both cajon pass and the famous beaumont hill as part of the former southern pacific's sunset route the video than finish's following the 4014 across the desert all the way to tucson arizona than heading into new mexico and crossing the rio grande river into el paso texas on the former sp mainline overall this 3 vol set is fantastic while some of the other videos that captured the 4014 it was mostly the trip to ogden i waited till these came out cause they cover the 3 events for the 4014 and they're worth it much like the n&w 611 reborn 5 vol set the year of the big boy 3 vol. set is probably now my favortie vidoes covering the 4014 and now the 4014 is now the largest operating steam engine in the world now (it was announced from up in the start of 2020 that union pacific challenger 3985 has now been retired but i've come to accept that the 4014 is now the largest operating steam engine) you won't regret buying this 3 vol. set it's absolutely worth it | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
