Union Pacific 'Big Boy' #4014 returned to the rails again in July, this time heading east from the steam shop in Cheyenne, WY on a tour of the upper Midwest. While the "Great Race to Ogden" was a doubleheader with 4-8-4 #844, this tour was the first solo trip for #4014. Our coverage begins in Omaha, NE as the "Big Boy" pulled a one-way public excursion east to Boone, IA as a fundraiser for the Union Pacific Museum in Council Bluffs.
After the public excursion to Boone, #4014 traveled north through Iowa on the former Rock Island 'Spine Line' to St. Paul, MN. The Big Boy then continued to Duluth, MN utilizing BNSF trackage rights - the first time any UP steam locomotive has visited the Twin Ports. You'll see #4014 crossing the impressive Kettle River bridge in Sandstone, MN before meeting Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range 2-8-0 #332 at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth. We'll cover both days of the 'Festival of Steam' in Duluth, including #332 pulling short trains along the waterfront, before following #4014 back to the Twin Cities. This program concludes with #4014 traveling east for 2 days across Wisconsin on the former Chicago and North Western line to Milwaukee and Chicago.
The video covers 9 days of operation:

year of the big boy vol.2 continues more coverage on union pacific big boy 4014 during july of 2019 the big boy's trip in the midwest would be named the great race across the midwest the first part of the video starts with the 4014 operating an excursion from omaha nebraska to boone iowa as part of a fundraiser for the union pacific railroad museum in council bluffs than the next set of trips would see the big boy travailing across from iowa to the twin cities of minneapolis/st.paul minnesota on the former chicago & northwestern mainline than the 4014 would than head for the twin ports of duluth minnesota using trackage rights on the bnsf operating on the st.paul subdivision as part of the former great northern mainline this marked the first time a union pacific steam engine visted the twin ports the 4014 would arrive at the lake superior railroad museum as the museum hosted a festival of steam event in honor of the big boy's visit in addition there's footage of the museum's newly operating steam engine former duluth, missabe and iron range consolidation 332 operating excursion trains along the lake shores the video than finish's following the 4014 back to the twin cities still operating on the former c&nw mainline (since it seems the midwest tour would operate on the former c&nw mainline i think it might of been a missed opportunity to use up 1995 the chicago & northwestern heritage unit to be the helper diesel with the 4014 maybe the could happen in a future trip) again another great vol in the series showcasing some of the beautiful midwestern scenery with the big boy showing it's stuff
