I read the description of the video before purchasing . Little steamers and electrics, coal and passenger trains, and a ride on the train. Sounds good, I made the purchase. It is a great video. Love watching these little trains in the rolling country side, past the "big" fields of "rape" as the producer refers to them. And I laughed seeing it. Rape is known in North America as "canola", and it is interesting to see the trains passing the fields. Speaking of agriculture.... note the oxen being led by it's owner, and some many other things we never see in North America. It's a great video. Period.

I have always loved Chinese Steam! From the QJ 2-10-2's to the SY 2-8-2's to the C2 0-8-0's!

The main draw to me on this program was the diminutive, very small drivered C2 class locomotives. A locomotive with drivers smaller then wheels on my Chevy HHR! I find it interesting that such a size was even possible, but with the coal commodity that they have, the smaller the driver, the more power that is provided!

When these engines are working hard up hill, it sounds like a 4-8-4 doing 70 MPH! The Scenery is spectacular, nothing that you can find here in the United States, and the look into some of the culture in the region is what really puts this program over the top!

I just love it!

I'd seen clips featuring the marvellous little Chinese NG Class C2 0-8-0 steamers over the years, so it was with much anticipation I discovered a whole DVD devoted to them, and in Blu-ray, plus open zone format. I wasn't disappointed. The service from Train Video Depot was tops as usual and delivery was prompt. The video was a 140 minute pleasure feast of C2's. I didn't watch all of it straight away, too much of a good thing, so I saved some for supper.

The Chinese town and country scenery is great and there's enough of the locals, too, to add extra interest. The minimal narration is not intrusive. The photography is excellent, thanks to HD and Blu-ray reproduction. Although pause gave me a chance to look at details of the locomotive, I would have prefered a video walk-around of the C2 as a separate item.

I'm a sucker for the C2 and this DVD does it justice. For anyone who enjoys world narrow gauge railways, then this is an excellent addition to your video library.

I give it 9.5 out of 10.

The Chinese made C2 class 0-8-0 tender locomotive is one of my all time favourites. Unfortunately, in recent years these little workhorses have faded away as China modernises her railway system. However, it's good to see that they have finally realised that a certain type of tourist, foreign, or domestic, will actually travel long distances in order to see this charming narrow gauge setup.

The very long video shows a wide variety of scenes, with the C2 at work in her natural element. The parts of this video that appeared as clips on youtube only whetted my appetite for own the original and now I have it - and in sharp and clear HD Blu-ray.

Highly recommended to those who can't get enough of narrow gauge lines of character.
