After a few decent, although hardly noteworthy releases, Pentrex has absolutely hit it out of the park with this one. I am a huge fan of NS's Pittsburgh Division, and have visited the area twice, with the hope of catching the fall colors. And as anyone familiar with the area will tell you, there are about only 10 days that you can observe the colors at their peak, so timing is critical. And again, Pentrex couldn't have done a better job, as the amazing colors explode on the screen! And the fact that all footage is shot with drones, supplemented with on-the-ground train sounds, makes this one even better. Pentrex chose great locations to shoot, and the train action is intense, with multiple meets, and a great variety of trains. A couple of Heritage units make an appearance, as does a AC44C6M (DC traction conversion). There is no narration, although train-symbols along with origination and destination points are shown. I can't say enough about this one, and if I had the option of choosing a rating higher than 5 stars, I certainly would. If possible, be sure to pick up the BR version - I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Disappointing. Drones are a new technology which requires new thinking and approaches, lacking in this video. Watching all 100+ cars of a train passing by is just as boring from the air as from track side. The advertised captions in lieu of narrative are nothing more than train numbers, origin and destination, completely useless info, at least to me. Several times the drone caught its operator on the ground which is not a knock on this video, just something different and amusing, to me, at least. |
