I really enjoyed this video, but I would only recommend it for someone who is fairly interested in the time period and the subject. As far as I know, there are not very many color films showing narrow gauge railroading in the late 1930's so this footage is a national treasure. The limits of the 8mm color film are evident in the lack of sharp edges and color depth, but with a little imagination you can travel back and see authentic narrow gauge railroading as it really was. You are treated to trips on the Colorado & Southern and their diminutive but powerful locomotives. There is also coverage of most of the D&RGW narrow gauge and towns as well as the Rio Grande Southern and the Chili Line. Locomotive types featured are C-16, C-19, K-27, K-28, and K-36. The steam locomotive sounds were added to the silent film and though not 100% accurate, it does not detract from the video and was very enjoyable. Where else can you see color motion pictures of narrow gauge locomotives from almost 75 years ago!

very good for the price, evocative of its time and place, flavor and breadth of 30s CO narrow gauge.

Having spent some weeks in the Colorado area and industrial heritage being my "hobby" I was very impressed by the old railway systems .The DVD gave a great look back to what things were like back then and the lifestyles involved. Great Stuff. Pete
