Nearly 30 years ago, one of 4449s well-known trips for 1989 besides the 50th anniversary of LA union station, as well as shooting for Warner Brothers Come See the Paradise, Was one of the most rarely seen events in Pacific Northwest railroading history. Besides the now 76 year old Northern, The Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroads now disassembled Porter built Mikado #5 is also shown hauling school kids to the winter games. Fun fact Alert: Only Pentrex & Dave Goodheart productions were there for the steam specials while other well known video producers are busy shooting their own projects and/or editing what they shot back in '88. I'm in the middle of watching this video now and can already tell you that it is very much worth picking up. Great steam action featuring #4449 and Mt. Rainier Scenic #5, a small-drivered 2-8-2 (even running on the mainline - wow!) pulling trips amongst the amazingly beautiful mountainous terrain of the state of Washington in the winter. This is definitely worth picking up!!! Washington Centennial Steam DVD Joshua Craig Beytien (Iowa) on 2018-03-16 02:26:22.

A winter game event at Washington in 1989 with train rides hauled by one 4-8-4 'Northern' and a 2-8-2 logging 'Mike' was spectacular to watch on DVD. Even I thought of it right before the Roanoke Triple-Header later that year in summertime. Kudos. |
