I loved the DVD on the surfline with all of the different shooting locations and the narration was all right as well. The cab ride portion of this DVD was in my opinion horrible. There were too many interior shots and not enough of the scenery outside in front. In addition, I can`t stand the excerptd cab segments. It left me wanting more. This is not too bad for the money but I would recommend the Pacific Surfliner cab ride DVD if you want to see the entire route as this DVD will leave you wanting to see more Amtrak the Surfliner and Amtrak Surfline Cab Ride DVD GEEJAY on 2010-07-21 04:15:07.

It was good, a bit dated. I liked the cab ride, but I was frustrated by so many cab interior shots. I want to see the scenery since I run the route on "Train Simulator" and see the landmarks along the way. The interior shots could be done when stationary. If you love being up the cab this video is for you. 1 Full hour of cabride headend video in an 8-32BWH unit made by GE in 1991. "Pepsi-Can" paint scheme. This video has high quality picture and sound! Also if your a Nathan K5LA horn fan then you will this a lot too. One of the more interesting regions of the USA to view trains is Southern California, with the mountains to the east, the sea to the west, and all the large cities in the state. This video does a great job showing us all the interesting locations along the route connecting Los Angeles and San Diego. There is plenty of action along the way, as many trains are viewed, and the route is well documented. Add in the fact that it is a Combo, with the second 1/2 being a cab ride, and the viewer has nearly everything that can be anticipated for a Point A to Point B video production. There is an Cab Ride version of this line and it is great.The only trouble with it is the photographer has the windshield wiper showing on the right side.The credits claim that it is shot in hi-def but you can't have hi-def results shooting from behind a windshied.The video is great and the sound and video signal displays are perfect. I happen to love Amtrak Dash-8's myself- especially in that scheme. This video is full of them in addition to the F40PH's. The Surfline has since changed (some will argue for the worse and others for the better) but you can't go wrong with this video. The scenery along the beach is awesome. It is neat to see the trains squeezing between the rocky cliffs and buildings on one side of the tracks and the packed beach on the other. The Santa Fe freights observed only add to the interest, operating with older units in the blue and yellow scheme. This is one of my personal favorites- and with a combo show you get two videos for the price of one! A great video and great deal all in one. First off, this video was shot on my favorite era of Amtrak when the Dash 8 Pepsi Cans where the newest thing running. You see plenty F40s and even an Amtrak CF7 switching cars in Los Angeles. The cab ride part was good too. It looked like the Dash 8s could really get up and go when they where new. 5/5 Amtrak the Surfliner and Amtrak Surfline Cab Ride DVD jerlip on 2010-07-20 17:51:04.

Superb Railroad DVD ~ very informative ~ would prefer to see a shot of the train itself at some point in which the cab ride was shot from ~ just to relate to it in my own mind. Really enjoying American Trains from across the pond in UK. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
