Henry Hank Griffiths Jr. was one of the most prominent railroad cinematographers of the steam era. Traveling throughout Idaho, Montana, Washington, Utah, and other northwest states, he captured images of steam at work in locations other photographers seldom visited. In 1992, Video Rails compiled a fascinating collection of Hank Griffiths' films, which they released on VHS as Classic Collectors Series Volumes 7 and 8. What can I say about this video presenting mainlines and branch lines of both the Union Pacific and the Southern Pacific except; magnifique!

I was a little disappointed with not seeing enough on the cab forwards, I thought I was ordering a DVD dedicated to Cab Forwards only...I was also hoping by watching thes DVD's I would be able to I.D. Macados, from Maylays or the style from each manufacturer. Still for an old timer it was a joy to see them again...

This DVD is azaming, I haven't had it for very long yet I have watched it a million times. This is a must have for any railroad fan :-))

Based on the title, you'd think it was about bigboys, cab forwards, challengers and daylights. In fact, it's really a series of short films that really don't have any of those things in them. I started watching it and thought they made a mistake and production. The content seemed like a series of previews since they didn't match the title and were so short. After reading the back of the cover, I realized I had been mislead by the title. It may be a good video but certainly has nothing to do with the title. I would not recommend it if you are looking for a video on bigboys, cab forwards, challengers and daylights. There really isn't much if any on this video. False advertising.
