Ok, so after reading the negative reviews AFTER I bought the DVD, I figured that I just wasted my money. But after viewing the program, I have to say that it was NOT a waste of money, and I actually found it very informative. Sure it was mostly shot from a bus window, but the commentary provided by the yard foreman was very interesting, not to mention that some of the power seen in the diesel shop area was pretty neat as well. 2 MBTA Commuter engines from Boise are see, along with the MKT, SP and MP Heritage units, and even a rare Grey KCSM AC4400 are seen, and all those SD40-2's makes this program worth it! The dead line of UP SD90/43MAC's that now belong to Norfolk Southern are also seen as well.

Seeing a coal hopper that was lifted for a wheel change was pretty neat, and all the stats that are provided for the yard during the tour was also pretty neat.

All in all, I found this program very enjoyable, and I know I will be watching it again!

I liked this DVD. Bailey Yard is an interesting place! For those who didn't like the DVD, I understand your points, but are you looking at the big picture there? Maybe you can go buy one of the other several Bailey Yard DVDs. Oh, that's right, there aren't any.

I was extremely disappointed by this video. Much of the first portion does not seem to be filmed.in HD. Many scenes were shakey. Tour guide narration not in sequence with video scenes. At the end, although it seemed.to be a higher quality video, there was scene after scene of engines going back and forth in the yard.....NO NARRATION. Of course, all.of these comments are MY OPINION. I have never fast-forwarded through a train video. But....boy I waas tempted on this one. If I could give "zero" stars, I would. Save your money on this one.

Additional remarks by run8anderson:
Narration: There was no narration.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
DVD Value: Overpriced for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it.
Recommend to others? Definitely not!.

Most or all of the video is captured during a recent bus tour of Bailey Yard. The video is of high quality, although sometimes there's reflection or contrast reduction caused by shooting through the tour bus window glass. the tour guide is a Bailey trainman, so he's knowledgeable....and his narration includes a lot of Q&A from the riders. That part is quite nice, but it does lead to some repetition and some unscripted moments.

There are a few occasions where the narration focuses on something that is not in the video--perhaps because the target is on the other side of the bus?. That's a little distracting....but only a little.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and will soon watch it again.

Narration: A little bit too much.

Agree with the Naysayers. I thought this program was AWFUL. The sound, at least on my system, was also awful and a lot of the questions and answers could not be understood. I watched it once and gave it to my local library so some other poor sole might suffer through it. I doubt if seeing it in BluRay wouldn't be much, it any better.

This is about as good a video of Bailey Yard as you can get. You get a lengthy bus ride thru the yard with narration from an accompanying railroad employee. He explains the workings of the yard and is very informative about many activities there and what a typical day is like. Much power and train activity is seen. The golden spike tower is also highlighted showing great views of diesel shop and locomotive shuffling and train movements. This culminates with heavy activity on the mainline west of the yard. This must have been made in September this year as many trains are powered by the newest 8000 series ES44AC's. It's nice to see UP is finally using these new units on coal trains. For a long time they were using nothing but those bland looking tired AC4400CW's. UP has about 1000 or so if these GEVO's. A great program!!!!!

Having taken a vacation to see the Golden Spike Tower & UP's Bailey Yard (July 2014) in North Platte NE, I was quite interested to see this video, and finally purchased it. I really enjoy the way the video opens with sights from the air. That gives a good insight into the gigantic size of the yard. Then there is the bus tour. Listening to the speaker, and all the questions being asked... we learn a great deal about Bailey Yard, it's operations, and the people who work there. It is extremely informative and very interesting to hear. The video camera does not always focus on what the speaker is talking about. Now.... remember.... this is a bus tour. There are people on the tour with children. Many people these days take a dim view to their faces or children being seen on a video, espescially if there is no financial compensation for it. Therefore.... the video camera stays primarily in one spot while on tour missing some of what the speaker is talking about. I believe that the bus tour was very well done and the speaker and videographer did their best on this segment. Following the bus tour, there is ground level scenes on the west end at a location referred to as "the Throat". Basically where the yard begins. Then the videographer moves further west towards O'Fallons for some mainline action. The ground level scenes could have used some good narration or more screen graphics. That is really the only flaw I seen in the video from a personal prospective. Definitely one of the producer's better videos. Well done over all. High marks for this presentation.

I agree with run8anderson; this video sucks.

Too much time is spent at ground level riding around on a bus. To really see the yard a person would need to be looking down on it from above. The tour guide describes things that cannot be seen by the viewer.

Save your money!

This video is awful. I was really looking forward to it but it was just a backlit tour guide view from a bus. Awful narration, awful video and really cheap- a kid with a cell phone could have produced a much better video- not kidding or exaggerating.
