WOW!! Yet another blockbuster from Pentrex. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to get snow on Beaumont hill? Its too bad they don't have an Academy award category for train videos! This show would get my vote. Ultimate Beaumont Hill 2-Disc 6 Hours DVD rrvideoman on 2008-09-13 05:57:14.

California in general is a hot location for trains. With famous locations like Donner Pass, Cajon Pass, Tehachapi Loop, and Beaumont Hill. The Ultimate Beaumont Hill is no disappointment. Long trains, with heavy horsepower, multiple engine lashups, the most modern engines made like the GEVO's and SD70Mac's, combined with the old reliable SD40-2's all make many appearances. Almost every mainline North American company, including lease units and some fallen flags, can be seen from Mexico to Canada makes it's way across the line. Amtrak also makes a number of appearances throughout the video. Many meets and and trains passing each other are witnessed. Combined with some awesome scenery of southern California, and You have one of the finest videos made. Pentrex holds nothing back and treats us to a fantasic show of power, excellent train viewing, and even some historical stories of the railroads of the region. This video is truly a "must have". I normally don't do these kind of videos from Pentrex but this one caught my eye filmed 5 years with over 300 trains by the up and Amtrak as well as foreign power from other railroads and fallen flags too even some of the heritage units from the up make an appearance in this and the ones featured are probably my favorite ones of the units they have passenger specials are also included even a few snow storms are there two one complant I have I that disc two kind of stop and resumes and does it again but it's still good (I watch these videos on my ps3 I probily should try a normal dvd player) this production from pentrex is a must have to your library Ultimate Beaumont Hill 2-Disc 6 Hours DVD MP_37 (Southeastern US) on 2013-10-07 17:32:31.

There is a LOT of trains on this program, so much so it can't practically be digested in a single viewing, it takes more like 3 or 4 to adequately appreciate it. The coverage of the territory route mileage covered is so thorough I wondered if I saw the entire Colton to Indio section in no more than 100 yard increments. The beautiful and ever changing topography and scenery almost make it required to cover it so thoroughly, just to do it justice. The legendary excellent Pentrex camera work is evident and makes the absolute most of the topography, lighting, and of course the trains. Video quality is absolutely stellar: Crisp and sharp, and it's not even HD. Sound is good too. While much of the signature SP signal bridges, searchlight signals have been replaced with modern "stoplight" type signals, there are still enough to be seen to know who's line this once was. On the other hand the double track right of way looks perfect. Power is modern with just enough earlier power to avoid monotony, and the trains are of varied types. You can't go wrong with this one.
