In volume 2 of the short lived reboot, it starts with the layout of Robert Suarez which is narrated by Joe Stachler. The locomotives on Bob's layout includes a Wabash F unit, a union Pacific SD70ACE, a Chicago and Alton 4-6-2 on a passenger run, a GP9 hauling boxcars, and many countless others. He also has an outstanding collection of operating accessories. For power, Bob uses a trio of ZW transformers, and Lionel TMCC. He also has a custom built transfer table, a carnival, the 397 coal loader, an intermodal Mijack crane in Norfolk southern lettering, and also Thomas the tank engine pulling his own coaches Annie and clarabel. Plus a motorized trolley on the street, a pair of Canadian Pacific diesels hauling freight, and a Plymouth switcher hauling ore. Bob also has real railroad artifacts, such as signs, lanterns, and signals. There is also a new York central tugboat. The layout itself is dedicated to Bob's father Joe who was born in July of 1929, and ended his life in February of 2013. The layout also has a pair of lift bridges, and a Santa Claus handcar.
Next, joe talks about the switch tracks that lionel made over the years. With some commentary by John palm. A new York central 0-8-0 number 7795 does the demonstration. Plus there is a brief look at the Marx switch track.
Afterwards Joe narrated a segment on a 2 rail o gauge layout, which is owned by Bill Leider. There is a portion between the difference of 3 rail, 2 rail, and Hi-rail. Bill operates weathered locomotives and cars, such as the two tone gray version of the union Pacific's living legend: northern 844 without the smoke deflectors, E unit 925, a doubleheader freight with a since been scrapped 3800 series challenger, and a big boy, and 0-6-0 number 4412 on a caboose hop. Bill also has scratched built buildings on his layout. Besides the union pacific, Bill also has a Chicago and northwestern H1 class 4-8-4 number 3034, as it is about to take a spin on the turntable. There are building prints of the locomotive, as well as the roundhouse, and yard area. Which includes a look at Ogden Utah union station. Bill also has his own work bench. A look at one of the scrapped big boys number 4008 is shown, then 925 glides down the line. The entire scenery on Bill's layout is inspired by the union Pacific mainline from Wyoming to the blue mountains of Oregon. The other side of the tunnel in the blue mountains, are located next to the stairs. For track, Bill uses atlas track.
Afterwards, Roger Farkash of TW design talks and demonstrates about grass on model railroad layouts.
Next, there is a combination of post-war and modern era trains of Bill taylor. Tom McComas does the narration. It also includes colorized films of lionel commercials. Bill's first train was a Boston and Maine alco FPA4 hauling military cars. Today, Bill operates the southern Pacific daylight, the Santa Fe super chief, the western Pacific version of the California Zephyr led by Also FPA4s, the southern crescent, a chessie system freight train led by a GP9, and many countless others. Bill also has a decent amount of scratch built bridges, mountains, and another southern crescent steamer, this time it's hauling freight. For track and power, Bill uses the MTH Z-4000 transformers, and gargraves tracks. He uses 7 trains: 2 American flyer, and 5 for lionel and mth. Bill uses American flyer for an illusion of the far away shots. He also has a ton of accessories, such as the lionel hobby store, an MTH McDonald's, Esso gas station, greyhound bus service, and a movie theater. There is also a bandstsnd, a diner, and lots of vehicles and figurines. Bill also has a modern Boston and Maine boxcar set with a trio of GP9s, and a 4-4-0 hauling a quartet of coaches. He's also has done some modifications of the hell gate bridge. Bill also has a lighthouse, and lots of die cast vehicles.
During the intermission, there is a vintage black and white lionel commercial as it shows the military cars.
Next there is a visit to the Lone star Hi-railers club which is located inside the baggage car at the grapevine vintage railroad in texas. Joe stachler does the narration. The club layout is located behind southern Pacific 2-8-2 number 771. The trains on the layout includes a Texas and Pacific 4-6-2 hauling coaches, the post-war celebration series version of the Texas special from 1998 or 1999, and lots of incredible accessories. There is also a trolley in the street. This layout took a year and a half to be built, and was opened in September of 2013. For track, they used gargraves, and was powered by a pair of MTH Z-4000 transformers, and uses the dcs and Lionel TMCC. The layout also has the Santa Fe F3 on the super chief. The diner was designed by K-Line. Plus there is also a model of the grapevine station. The layout also has a 3 stall roundhouse with a turntable.
The final layout in part 2 of the short lived reboot is the southwest themed layout of Joe Luciani. Tom McComas does the narration. Joe has a model of the union Pacific heritage unit 1988 in red MKT colors, the Santa Fe streamlined chief, and lots of freight on the AT&SF in both blue & yellow, and the warbonets, plus BNSF, which includes real photographs of the southwest, a union Pacific turbine, and lots of realistic scenery. Some photos of the layout building are shown. Joe also has die cast big rigs. For track, he uses atlas, which the ties are painted white to resemble the present concrete ties. A map of the layout is shown, plus a diesel refueling station, and a model of Norfolk and western class A number 1218 which operates between 1987-1991. All of Bill's trains on the layout are made by MTH. Real crossing bell sounds are added. He also has a model of another union pacific heritage unit number 1982, plus a rock island F unit. Bill has a decent collection of operating accessories and store bought buildings. In the yard look carefully for a union Pacific challenger or a big boy.
