I am an unabashed diesel fan, so this was a relatively new experience for myself, buying a steam DVD that is. Surprise!!!! I have to say that I really enjoyed this DVD. The quality and content left me with pleasure so I can recommend this DVD to others.

It's hard to imagine that its been 20 years since California's Capital City hosted the final major railroading event of the 20th century. While the Pentrex version of Railfair '99 is the Longest, Valhalla Video was there, as well as Machines of Iron & Donner Rails. During the Feather River canyon trip, Valhalla was inside the cab of the C40-8, While Pentrex spent so much footage capturing the week long event, there are a ton of deleted scenes of the mighty mainline giants except for 2467 heading to Sacramento: 3751 in Above 3751 Over Cajon, Plus 4449, 844, and Challenger 3985 in the Un-Narrated Steam to Railfair '99. Thankfully, these 20 year old footages have been preseverd for decades to come and go, and unfortunately both 4449 & 3751 were 2 out of the 10 or more or less mainline steam giants to be listed on the No Steam Giantsa allowed Policy by Amtrak's Worst President: Dick Anderson. However, about 5 years after the Boiler Explosion on Thursday June 24, 844 Returned to Mainline service for more than it was built for, but sadly as of today, Challenger 3985 is still retired after pulling the Since Discontinued Ringling Brothers Circus Train. 2467 Operated for a very short time between 1999-2003. The sisiter engine of 2472, is still on Display at Sacramento along with 4466 which during that time, it would mark as the transition for Steam On the Sacramento Southern as Granite Rock 6 wheeled tank engine number 10 does the honors, of pulling the Museum train along the Sacramento river and in beyond. What About the other Railroad video producers you may ask? Well, at the Same time the Museum hosted Railfair, the NRHS & R&LHS Conventions, Greg Scholl was in Canada Most of the Time, and about less than a week after Railfair ended, He chased 3985 and a dead 844 From Green River back to Cheyenne where 844 would be in pieces for the huge rebuild, on America's 223rd birthday (Sunday July 4, 1999) which is shown in Union Pacific in the '90s. If You owned SP Vintage Steam & the Overland route from Greg, Evan Whitaker Recorded SP Steam in 1999. 2467 is on Vintage steam, and 4449 & 1233 are on the Overland Route. Speaking of 4449, This Now 20 year old event would be marked as the final time the red and orange 4-8-4 traveled to its real home state for real. All in All Great steam locomotives of all sizes, especially the visiting Smaller steamers, Decent Diesels on Amtrak, Union Pacific, BNSF, and Yolo, plus the opening and closing whistles of all of the visiting engines except for 844 due to a boiler explosion after pulling an excursion to Tehama on Wednesday June 23rd. As Always, Dave Drui did an outstanding job narrating this Official Convention Video.

Additional remarks by Steamboy:
Narration: Just enough.
Narration CAN be turned off in special features.
Would kids enjoy this? Definitely!
Image quality: Excellent!
