A homerun from Pentrex. Clear images, great scenery and unique angles capture the grandeur of the mountains and heavy tonnage slithering through passes. Almost all trains include mid and rear end helpers. Interesting to see the coal mines and power plants embedded in the mountain passes. A variety of engines from other countries add flavor to the lash-ups. Several railroads appear on these mountain rails adding to the diversity. A great DVD, nicley filmed narrated and presented in the format Pentrex has come to be know for. Filmed in 2000 there's plenty of great viewing of classic EMD and GE power. Utah railway puts on a great showing with there classic SD40's mixed with their then new MK 5000s and SD60's built for Australia, the DVD gives a good explanation of the differences between the Australian SD60s and the American ones, the Rio Grande tunnel motors probably steal the show with as many as six at a time in helper service on coal and freight trains, through in some BNSF run throughs and UP trains and you can't beat this show. This DVD lives up to expectations of a Pentrex product. It exceeds the quality of a rival companies product by a huge margin and is more informative. I would have liked more views of the Castle Gate area itself. Highly recommended. Soldier Summit Assault DVD train-nut on 2010-03-16 21:03:30.

This area of our country is a site to behold, and what better way then along side the tracks!!!!! If you like mountain railroading, mixed power consists and lots of coal trains then this DVD is for you!! Also there is plenty of Amtrak passenger action as well! With this DVD you will see helpers being added at Helper Utah and push hard on all kinds of trains!!! And on Utah Railway those unique Morrison Knudsen MK5000 engines give you a up close look at a different kind of power! All said a great video from a great part of our country!!! Great video. The location is great.I loved seeing the Tunnel motors in their home area.I could sit at Helper,Utah all day and watch the trains go by,UP,SF,BN and not enjoy the action.This video shows all the great spots to sit and watch trains. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
