Shenendoah Junction is in the panhandle of West Virginia. Here, the CSX ex-Baltimore and Ohio main line from Washington, DC passes under the Norfolk Southern ex-Norfolk and Western Roanoke to Hagerstown line. These are two very busy lines. While the NS is freight only, the CSX line carries Amtrak's "Capitol Limited" and MARC commuter trains. Both lines feature much intermodal traffic and the CSX carries everything from general freight to autos, coal and coke. Run through power and leased units add to the variety of action. The program spans 9 years, from 1999 to April of 2008.

This DVD shows the parade of trains at Shenandoah Junction on seven different occasions spread over the years from 1999 to 2008. It is all shot from the same camera location close to the NS bridge over the CSX and most trains are covered almost in full, even when they have 100 plus cars. There is a graphic for most trains showing direction, and unusually the number of cars, but it would have been good also to have had information on origins and destinations. Most of the power is standard CSX and NS stock with little obvious change over the 9 years, but there are some interesting variations, for example seven loco lash-ups, the MARC commuter trains and a wide range of cars in many of the CSX manifests. There are some good shots, and on a couple of occasions the DVD just misses the dream shot of the power on two trains reaching the bridge at the same time. But generally the picture quality and camera work were not quite up to the professional standards of the main producers – sometimes rather jerky and too often with telegraph poles in centre shot. But as this is quite a busy hotspot that is seldom covered in DVDs, it should be a valuable addition to collections, particularly for those with an interest in eastern railroads.

Additional remarks by RPS:
Narration: There was no narration.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
