A great DVD on a classic railroad I used to work for and sadly is none gone like so many others. The quality of photographer is fantastic typical to so many other DVD's from Pentax, narration is also good and informative. The scenery is fantastic and make's this DVD a Must have for any SP fan. Classic lash ups of Tunnel Motors, SD40s, SD45s even some SD-9's make up the motive power scenes, a nice collection of freight cars which a lot of these are now gone fill out the trains, who would have ever thought the day would come when SP and SSW Hydra-Cushion box cars would be hard to find and get you excited. It was great to see trains the way they used to be with out all the modern day graffiti all over everything. 5 stars out of five. Excellent production of a very scenic SP route with neat footage of trains and motive power (almost all of it 2nd generation EMD) in the mountains. Narration on some occasions is cut over locomotive noise, but it is only a minor detraction. If you're a fan of SP or mountain railroading, pick it up; it's a keeper. Mountain railroading is always a challenge. A great video for just that to see with the steep grades and long heavy trains. And the scenery is awesome to see. Rail fans in general will love this one as Southern Pacific puts on a great show. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
