Southern California Rail Journal 2008 DVD 5 of 5 (2)
Come with Pentrex on a railfan's journey throughout Southern California. This innovative visual journal begins in June 2008 and continues through late December, with each scene featuring all new footage of trains presented in the same order in which they were filmed. Our railfan journalist is a California native with a keen eye for great locations. He'll take us through Los Angeles, Orange, Kern, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties to share the mighty railroading action this area offers.
Among the thrills waiting for you are former Santa Fe 3751 running on the San Bernardino Sub at night under a full head of steam; Amtrak's Coast Starlight making several detours over Tehachapi; an Amtrak meet with a freight on Soledad Canyon; and UP's specially painted George HW Bush locomotive leading two Heritage Units in a dazzling rainbow consist over Beaumont Hill. You'll also see visitors from Norfolk Southern, CSX, and Ferromex adding even more color and variety to the show. The Orange Empire Railway Museum provided vintage diesel and steam trains, and extra treats include the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus train and a wind turbine train. If that's not enough, we'll finish the program with snowy winter scenes on Cajon Pass. From the daily runs to the rare appearances, there's plenty for you to enjoy in Southern California Rail Journal 2008!

Here is a video with lots of variety. A steam run, passenger service, trains in the snow, a look at the Orange Empire Railroad Museum, the circus train... etc... I was empressed with how Pentrex put this together. One of my favorite locomotives... the George HW Bush is also seen. Also many railroad companies are seen. Great video
Additional remarks by rrvideoman: Narration: Just enough. Narration CAN be turned off in special features. Would kids enjoy this? Maybe. Image quality: Excellent! DVD Value: Excellent Value! Recommend to others? A "Must Have"!

Nice to the Amtrak detour thru Tehachapi Pass. Nice to see all the heritage engines and all the foreign power. Pretty good videography. Nice to see more than "point and shoot". If it weren't for the sale price I wouldn't have bought it.
Additional remarks by gecatgjc: Narration: Just enough. Would kids enjoy this? Maybe. Image quality: Good. DVD Value: Overpriced for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it. Recommend to others? Yes.
