Railroading in Nebraska... It is really something for railfans to see. This video was shot in March, so the landscape has only 2 colours, white and brown. And being the area of Nebraska that it is in, the landscape is barren. Rolling hills that are basically treeless. But do not let this discourage the interest in this video. There is a lot to see. The trains are awesome to see. Highball has done a wonderful job covering the territory and the trains that transverse it. Big power, long trains, not moving to fast. Great stuff. I was pleased with the video. A great addition for my collection being in an area that is not to heavily covered by railroad video producers.
I would like to see the same territory again, only in July. It would be a wonderful area to see also in person, and Highball has brought it to life for the railfans. Definitely a video for all railfans.

The Sand Hills Sub is BNSF's line to the east from Alliance to Ravenna Nebraska and the Powder River coal mining area. In addition to coal, the line carries some intermodal traffic and a very few manifest trains.. If you are thinking that this is typical Midwest flat corn and wheat farming territory, think again. Although the Sand Hills region of Nebraska is not mountains, it is definitely not flat. And those unit coal trains are heavvvvee.

This video covers the Alliance to Thedford on the western end of the Sand Hills Sub. Primary power on this line is the EMD SD70MACs and GE AC4400CWs. The manifest trains run with older power including some D40-2s in Cascade Green. We see several SD70MACs in the Grinstein Green and C44-9Ws in the Older Heritage 1 paint scheme. And not to be overlooked, we enjoy some wide cabs in the Santa Fe res and silver Warbonnet scheme. Some foreign power is seen, including a white Soo Line SD40-2.

Narration is minimal. The Photography is sharp and crystal clear, with very little annoying glare reflections from cab windshields. There are some scenes with fog. There are some location and milepost markers, but no train symbol markers. Kids most likely will not enjoy this video – it is all slow moving trains with very whistles being blown.

Additional remarks by armchair railfan:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
