Overall it has good camera work, good light and high quality bluray picture! My only disappointment was I think there could have been a little yard action to round out an overall good disc! Lots of action and good variety ! Lots of motive power models ! Keep the bluray coming highball!!! Rails Around the Metroplex - BNSF Union Pacific Amtrak DVD rrvideoman on 2010-01-25 06:24:37.
Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas is an area with little for railroad video fans. Here is a video that finally shows a fair amount of the 2 cities. There is lots of power, big and small, new and old, from various companies. Shown in various locations, the interest holds throughout the video. The content and quality of the video is good. It would have been nice if more screen graphics and narration was included for anyone to keep notes on when visiting the region. Not a top of the line for Highball, but better than other videos. 4 stars is a reasonable rating. Rails Around the Metroplex - BNSF Union Pacific Amtrak DVD RPS on 2009-10-16 04:13:58.
A good DVD that fills a gap in the market - there are not many other DVDs that cover the many hotspots in the Dallas/Forth Worth area. The photography is excellent with good use made of close-ups and telephoto lenses. This plus the good weather during filming makes for for some first rate shots in what is inevitably a rather drab urban environment. There is also a wide range of motive power on display, including some rare and colourful diesels. It would though have benefited from more commentary and some graphics explaining the locations and the origins/destinations of the trains on display. |
