Nice work. Need more shots of the trains running, but that is a very subjective comment. Lionel Nation No. 5 DVD Steamboy (Revere MA US) on 2020-09-03 09:21:02.
In this recently turned 10 year old DVD, the program starts with producer Tom McComas talking about the very first vision line locomotives such as the Pennsylvania 0-8-8-0 number 8183, the general electrics evolution hybrid, and the experimental steam locomotive: Santa Fe 2-10-10-2 number 3000. Both the 8183, & The hybrid appeared many years later in one of TMBV's newest DVD: railscenes 1.0. Listen carefully for the mispronounciation of the word Cajon. Next, Tom talks about the post-war variations & rarities from Craig Chidester, which includes boxes, science sets, & plasticville buildings. Afterwards, a visit to the national New York Central railroad museum in Elkhart Indiana is shown with lionel models of a Mohawk (real Mohawk is 3001, While the lionel version is number 3005), a wood sided caboose (real caboose 19211, & lionel model number 19400), streamlined coaches, & even F units (real unit is number 4085, & The lionel version is number 2344). This segment was narrated by Jeff McComas. From Indiana, we head south to the north park in Dallas Texas where an interview with collector Van bywaters is included as well as a mention of A lionel Christmas volume 2. Look closely for a model of Percy The small engine from Thomas & friends, as well as a handful of John Deere tractors. There are plenty of railroads both past and present from Wabash to BNSF, as well as an On30 4-6-0 on the Christmas portion of the big layout. The new york city section of the layout also has some subway cars, as well as a carnival with a circus along The way. This layout operates 32 trains: steam diesels & subways. This segment was narrated by Joe Stachler. Moments later, Jeff talks about the Ferdinand Magellan, which includes vintage films of Harry Truman, to the October 1984 footage of Ronald Reagan onboard the rear of the election train. Moments later, Tom talks about the choo choo diner in Des Plaines Illinois which is located about a walk from the Metra commuter station. An interview with restaurant owner Jean Paxton is included While some kids wore the I love toy trains shirts. Finally, Tom talks about the layout of George Werderich, where in fact, his grandson GJ (George Jr) is a big fan of the I love toy trains video series. George uses gargraves track, uses Zw transformers with some modern day power, & operates models of the Amtrak Acela express, the Rio Grande F unit, the Virginian rectifier, trollies, a Canadian Pacific F unit, the Milwaukee road GP7, a modern era Santa Fe F unit that's equipped with TMCC, the wheeling & lake Erie articulated mallet, a monon GP30, Union Pacific big boy 4024, a 4-4-0 on a mixed freight & passenger train known as the Halloween set, Union Pacific alco FPA4s pulling the 50th anniversary set, more F units from Monon with different color variations & tons of accessories, both operational types from lionel, & even plasticville buildings. One of the rare items that George owns is the 6464 Rock island boxcar with black lettering that was also owned by Craig Chidester. George also has more locomotives & rolling stock on the display cases. His very first lionel set was in 1945. It was a 2-6-2 number 1666 from the prewar years. 5 years later, he also received the Santa Fe F-3. An interview with George's son Wallace was included. Before the closing credits, a jazz themed musical montage is included. After the closing credits, & previews of other TM titles, we took a look at part 1 of silent 16mm films containing the TCA layouts from the 50s with some commentary from both Tom & Joe. |
