An Awesome DVD that's well photographed the graphics and narrations are excellent and keep the show interesting, its non stop action with a variety of trains and lash ups. The MRL ACe's look great and are seen mixed with older power, one of my favorites was the coverage of heavy unit coal trains that make frequent appearances with MRL ACe's on the point and older EMD classic SD40s,40-2s and SD45s locomotives used as helpers. Definitely a Must Have DVD well worth the price.

The MRL was formed in 1987 on the tracks of Burlington Norther's former Northern Pacific line, running from Sandpoint ID over Mullan Pass and Bozeman Pass east to Huntley MT. It runs from Sandpoint to Spokane WA on trackage rights. This video is in the 16X9 Widescreen format.

The program opens with trains climbing Bozeman Hill using 3, 4 or more engines on the point and 3 of the new SD70ACe's shoving on the back end. The narrator gives us a good explanation of the features of EMD's new SD70ACe EPA compliant locomotives. Other highlights include Bozeman Tunnel, Lombard with a shot of a partially dismantled MILW bridge, Winston Hill, Helena, Skyline curved trestle and Mullan Tunnel at the Continental Divide.

Narration is minimal, but it would have been nice to have a bit more detail about some of the locations. There are no train symbol or location markers. The photography is excellent, and does a good job of showcasing the Montana mountain scenery. If you like heavy duty mountain railroading with helpers, you will enjoy this DVD. Fans of the SD70ACe will love this video - many trains have at least one.
