The black & white home movies of J. L. Watson of Los Angeles. Shot from 1939 to 1942, this is an amazing record of early 1940s steam in California. This is rare film now professionally transferred to DVD. Our first bit of rare footage is a ride through the WP's Feather River Canyon. Shot from the observation car we see the canyon and passing trains. We then find ourselves at the yard throat of the newly put into service LAUPT. Watch from near Mission Tower as we see all the big steam of the day pulling the big name trains of the day. We wrap it up with a trip through Santa Ana Canyon and then the summit of Cajon Pass. Music added to the silent film. 8mm color film to DVD. B&W, music, no narration.

A trip back in time to witness everyday work on these railroads are very decent to see, as well as a great variety of Steam & Early Diesel power which they have since been retired, displayed, sold to museums, and sadly gone for scrap. Not to mention being merged. Overall, good compilation, decent trains, and fine music as these films will take you back way before the internet, social media, and also online shopping.

Narration: There was no narration.
Would kids enjoy this? Maybe.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
DVD Value:: Fair.
