I'd also give this three stars out of five. The subject matter is outstanding - the two Pacific-type locomotives running between Clifton Forge and Charlottesville, VA on CSX rails is an amazing sight. There is some of very good pacing action at different parts of the film - which covers a few trips - both doubleheaded and solo, up the grades with some great whistle action and stack talk.

Now for the less-than-good. There definitely appears to be multiple cameramen - at least two. One uses a tripod - when shots are zoomed in, the camera doesn't really shake, pans well, and stays good and on subject. The other one does not use a tripod. When zoomed in on a subject, there is a rather pronounced shake to the camera, which is unfortunate. When zoomed out, it's not too bad, I've seen worse. Then the zooming in again to follow the train as it leaves, and the shaking resumes.

It's a little rough around the edges in some scenes, but overall, it's a film I'll watch repeated times for the great steam action presented here.

Well since these trips are 100% historic, the matched pair of identical twin engines are on display back at their real home in canada. Despite this, they operated from the 1970's to 1993. Once on the Chessie system territory for special occasions, followed by the First (Early) Years of The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, and finally in Virginia before being put out if service due to CSX's Rules.
