Life Begins at Forty Nickel Plate Berkshire 765 DVD 4 of 5 (1)
In 1984, Nickel Plate Road Berkshire No. 765 was 40 years old. The big 2-8-4 celebrated her birthday as the star of the 1984 NRHS convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In this video you'll see the 765 deadheading from Bellevue to Cincinnati, doubleheaded with Norfolk & Western 4-8-4 No. 611! Then you'll see the 765 pulling trips on former L&N, C&O, B&O, and N&W trackage. This is a very scenic part of the country, with mountains, tunnels and long bridges, and you'll see the 765 in all her glory.
This DVD is also a wonderful tribute to the dedicated crew of volunteers who keep this big Berkshire running.
60 minutes.

While all of the 1984 trips with 765 are covered as well as a sequel from Bridges To Buffalo with 611, Greg Scholl was also there to capture the unannounced events of '84. We Won't be able to see any of Greg's footages of the doubleheader and with 765 on all trips, why? Because he refused to color corrected the Panasonic Super-Tube footages, and bring them out on DVD. So far we only have the South African Steam Collection, 614 coal trains, and New River Express on the Re-edited Autumn Spectacular DVD from 2009. Not to mention 3 clips of 8444 from Steam in St. Louis 1990.
Additional remarks by Steamboy: Narration: Could have used more. Would kids enjoy this? Yes. Image quality: Good. DVD Value:: Fair. Recommend to others? A "Must Have"!
