This 30 year old program is really rare and popular for all of the old school NS steam lovers everyday. The Birmingham shop segment is allright as well as the one-way freight to Roanoke plus a few of 1218's first excursions. Surprisingly enough instead of re-editing the whole program, Greg converted the original 1987 editing to the present format of technology for future generations. Oh how the memories would come and go forever. Norfolk & Western 1218 Rebuilt & Roanoke Bound DVD chris collins (fletcher north carolina) on 2018-10-08 20:45:08.

Norfolk & Western 1218 Rebuilt & Roanoke Bound follows the restoration of n&w class a no.1218 2017 marked the 30th anniversary when the giant articulated was restored and operated in the late 80's to the first two years of the early 90's since i've bought several video's on the 611 i feel like the 1218 deserves some attention the same with the success of the restoration of n&w class j northern no.611 ns was looking for another steam engine to operate with the 611 and the answer was n&w class a no.1218 the two engines were the main stars for the steam program and seeing footage everyone seemed to loved these two engine operate there's a look at the work at the irondale shops in Birmingham Alabama than a return to the shops when the engine returned to steam the first operation saw a test run from Birmingham to Wilton, Alabama than the homecoming trip to Roanoke and operations of trips for the norfolk southern steam program the 1218 would continue to run until November 1991 when she was sent back to the iorndale shops for an overhaul when the steam program ended operations in December 1994 and she's now sitting as a static display this is a great buy of seeing the 1218 when she first returned to steam |
