Over 20 operating steam locomotives traveled to Vancouver, British Columbia to participate in the largest gathering of steam in recent time. Locomotives from England, Canada, and the United States were there for the Grand Parade of Steam! We'll also visit the SteamExpo site for a close up view of the individual locomotives.

Plus a Special Steam Bonus: Daylight to Hollywood. In March 1986, the SP 4449 steamed down to Hollywood from Portland to appear in a major motion picture. We share that special event with you.

When this video was first released in the fall of '86 it was originally a black background with only the word "SteamExpo" sideways 4 times, Blue on the far right and 3 color gray variations from right to left on the front cover. The spine of the first edition has the title in Blue, and it shows a Black and White picture of 2860 going to the Expo on the back, the program itself however was recorded on a Maxell T-120 video for a first edition look. The second edition has lots of differences on the entire cover art, but the tape however remains the same.

SteamExpo ‘86 was the scenic highlight in Canada. They had the grand parade of steam locomotives ranging from The Rocket which is considered to be the pioneer of all steam locomotives to the famous Royal Hudson 2860. Afterwards, they interview some of the locomotives information and I always love history. In addition to the events in Canada, out in the west coast of Portland, Oregon, Southern Pacific Daylight 4449 traveled to California for the premiere Hollywood movie “Tough Guys” with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas. No chapters on the video but still enjoyable.

Additional remarks by Ron Harber:
Narration: Just enough.
Would kids enjoy this? Yes.
Image quality: Good.
DVD Value: Good Value
Recommend to others? Definitely.
