In this show, we will cover CN's former DM&IR ore lines in northeastern Minnesota, along with a sampling of Northshore Mining and BNSF operations in the area. What draws fans to Minnesota's north woods and the shores of Lake Superior isn't just the beautiful country or the interesting iron ore operations, it's the motive power used to pull trains through this unique region. EMD is king here, and we document these fine machines as they thunder across CN's Missabe, Minntac, Iron Range, and Two Harbors Subdivisions. We also follow Northshore Mining's mainline between Silver Bay and Babbitt, Minnesota, exploring some remote areas of Minnesota's Arrowhead. You'll see NSM's older SD40-3s, as well as leased SD90MACs hauling raw taconite ore and tailings trains across the railroad. BNSF's Kelly Lake and Grand Rapids locals are also briefly covered, powered by pairs of SD40-2s

there was some beautiful scenery shots in this, my opinion is narration could have been a little more but I was still pleased with the purchase.

Over the years, I have purchased a good number of C Vision releases, and have generally been satisfied. And even though I was a bit hesitant at first, due to this dvd featuring nothing but ore trains, I am extremely happy that I made the purchase. My biggest surprise was, after expecting to see the standard C Vision "45 degree point-and-shoot wedge-shot" on the majority of trains (not intended as a slam), I was excited to see footage shot with many different angles, elevations, and techniques. Most impressive, was the use of the Minnesota scenery and weather that was incorporated into the footage. Great wide-angle shots of trains during sunrise, sunset, spectacular cloud-formations, etc. Additionally, the videography is excellent, and is well supplemented by the narration. In addition to the great footage of the unique ore trains, the variety of motive power is incredible! Here, EMD power is king, and former SP Tunnel motors are plentiful, along with SD38's and variations of SD40's, all in CN, DMIR, and B&LE paint schemes. Again, I am really happy with this release, and I know that it will be one that is viewed and enjoyed frequently.
