Last Train from Alamosa 3 of 5 (2)
See the last hurrah of the Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge in South-West Colorado - just as it really used to be! Catch passenger operations on the 170 miles between Alamosa and Durango with engines roaring across the flats of the San Luis Valley, battling the 4% over Cumbres Pass, and winding through canyons all the way to Durango. Some of the last passenger specials to shine these rails rumble through Canyon Amargo and take water at Arboles, now lost beneath the waters of Navajo Lake. View the long-lost Farmington Branch, and a mountain rescue on the Silverton. Finally follow the last train all the way from Alamosa to Durango as it races across the valley then climbs to the summit of Cumbres Pass at dusk in the snow. We hear its whistle echo one last time off the canyon walls before the rails fall silent forever. Cinematography by Herb Craig and Mac Owen

Last Train from Alamosa Bob (Tennessee) on 2014-06-24 13:55:13.
Good video with some basic 60s footage of the last operations on the Cumbres Pass line. Not much freight action, if you like last passenger operations it is good. There are much better such as Greg Scholls version
Additional remarks by Bob: Narration: Just enough. Would kids enjoy this? Maybe. Image quality: Good. DVD Value:: Fair. Recommend to others? Yes.
Last Train from Alamosa Keith on 2010-04-23 07:13:33.
I was definitely disappointed and will not add this dvd to my collection. It was very boring. The vast majority of the video showed engines with a few cars switching. The train would go left, then it would go right, then left, then right, on and on and on. The narration was skimpy. The music was really annoying and it was played over and over and over.
Additional remarks by Keith: Narration: Could have used more. Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it. Image quality: Good. DVD Value: Overpriced for the amount of enjoyment I got out of it. Recommend to others? Not unless they REALLY were interested in the subject matter.
