The trip was the "Western Heritage Tour" to California for the Centennial celebrations of the City of Roseville and the Western Pacifiic Railroad. A golden spike ceremony took place on the Keddie Wye on the Feather River. BA Productions was there to capture all the great action shots of the trip over Donner, various interviews with engineer Steve Lee, Rick Braunschweig, Ed Smith and many more! We caught a ride with the crew and rode all the way up the Feather River Canyon. If you like steam, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS PROGRAM! It will be professionally produced to incorporate the REAL DEAL you deserve!

The High Def quality is very good on most of the BluRay disc. There are parts where the quality is lacking -- but it well could be due to lighting and weather. The views inside the cab are excellent. The various gauges stand out and are clearly readable in a lot of shots. Since I live in Northern California - I have actually rode on the Feather River railroad (Western Pacific) and over Donner Summit in the Sierras (Southern Pacific). It is beautiful Western mountain scenery along with a beautiful steam locomotive.

Disappointing, as the whole first 2/3 is interviews with the engineers, firemen, and various railfans, with annoying narration and most of the video shot inside the locomotive cab. It was basically a Union Pacific PR piece. What I wanted was documentation of the trip, and some discussion of the details, like the consist of the train and who rode on it. Finally, at the very end, they did a scene-by-scene narrative of the trip from Sparks to Roseville, but not much detail and no description of the WP Feather River Canyon portion of the trip, or any of the others. I'm already searching for a better video ...
