This was a great video with lots of surprises. It begins with the big electric boxcabs of the Milwaukee Road. Footage includes pacing at speed, street running, and traveling through the mountains. Diesels of the MW are also seen, including a train with 9 diesels of Geeps and F units. The video then takes a look at the immaculate passenger trains of the Great Northern. Then it focuses on how the merger with the NP and GN caused a huge color scheme commotion. Then the video focuses on the Seattle trolley system of the late 1930's. There's great images of big orange cars sharing the streets with vintage autos and trucks. There's even a look at the trolleys running over the Spokane Elevated line. But it was the end of the line for the Seattle trolleys by 1940, and a ceremony urwrapping a new bus is shown by the then-mayor of Seattle. It is immediately put on the trolley transfer table and then we see it running up and down the hills of the city over the soon to be unused tracks. There's also short look at the green and white trolleybuses of Seattle. The program ends with a look at the Yakima Valley Transportation Company's street running electric steeplecabs. All in all, a great production from Greenfrog!
