Bangor & Aroostook - The Final Years DVD 2.5 of 5 (2)
The B&A proudly served the counties in Northern Maine. The road eventually reached south to Bangor and interchange with the Maine Central at Northern Maine Junction. From there it reached south to a deepwater port at Searsport. This allowed the B&A to export the products of Maine, such as paper, potatoes, and forest products to the world. It also allowed the importation of fuel, such as oil, for the paper industry and others. The B&A was in hard times in the mid 1990's when Chester Kamuda was able to capture iton his Hi-8 video.
Chester visited No. ME Jct, chased the Searsport job, Millinocket Yard and the East Millinocket paper mills. He chased the Van Buren job twice and captured the interchange movements with the CN over the international bridge. While visiting Presque Isle, he also filmed the shortline Aroostook Valley in its finday days of operation.
Some common B&A mis-spellings: Aroostock, Arostock,Arostook
