This volume is slightly different from the previous volumes. We are taken for a scenic ride along the Pacific ocean in southern California. Different angles of the railroad is seen, with meets of passing trains. Very interesting video At the Throttle Cab Ride V5 The Surfline DVD David Cashell (Dublin Ireland.) on 2013-10-30 12:18:35.

A great video of a line I am very familiar with. I have been on this line many times on the passenger trains, but this video gives me a perspective from the freight operations point of view. At the Throttle Cab Ride V5 The Surfline DVD Jay C on 2010-07-21 07:07:50.

Did not meet my expectations for a program with the camera mounted on the lead engine. Very little of this type of programming. If promoted as such, it should have been the majority of the program, not as little as Pentrex included. I do not believe this meets Pentrex's high standards and advertising for this DVD. Great sites and sounds. Love this one. The only thing I have negative about this series is there are not all the scenes that appear in the previews. Where are all the camera angles of the hitches coupling, etc.? Are there more in the series? I sure hope so. These are fun to watch. Pentrex videos are the best in my opinion. "At the Throttle Cab Ride Vol. 5 The Surfline" is an OK title. However, I was expecting something different. Certainly the previews of all the titles combined makes for some interesting footage. This DVD starts out slow, and it focus more on the scenery rather than the train (or equipment) itself. I was hoping for a lot of mechanical type shots of the train in motion (e.g. wheels, rooftop as the train accelerates, side walkway, between couplers, etc.). However, that was not the case, unfortunately. Of course, the scenery as viewed from the cab or front of the loco was indeed nice. There are some great and beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean. I wonder what volume of this series focuses more on the obscure shots rather than the scenery? |
