Part two of our series on Union Pacific's Sidney Subdivision in Nebraska covers the eastern half of the line between Sidney and North Platte.

The double track main line follows Lodgepole Creek and the historic Lincoln Highway (US 30) through charming small towns including Lodgepole, Chappell, and Julesburg (Colorado). It takes a new course following the South Platte River through the famous western town of Ogallala as it heads to its final destination of Bailey Yard at North Platte.

Monster manifests pushing three miles long ply the rails along with hot-shot Z trains running expedited merchandise across the Corn Husker State, plus coal trains, stack trains, auto racks and more. Our tour coincided with Union Pacific Big Boy number 4014's run across Nebraska on its Summer 2021 Tour and we will take you trackside for the action.

Our program concludes with fantastic views of Bailey Yard, the largest railroad classification yard in the world. Scenes from the air and the Golden Spike Tower help bring the scope of this operation to the big screen.

In Part 2 that was filmed in August of 2021, there are not only a variety of diesels on Union Pacific with other Road Names like BNSF, Norfolk Southern, CSX, Farmer's Elevator Co. with a former Conrail GP9, & Southern Pacific, but also Big Boy 4014 traveling from Cheyenne Wyoming to New Orleans Louisiana for not only the steam engine's 80th Birthday Tour, but also the very first time in railroading history that a Steam Locomotive was equipped with Positive Train Control. Locations for part 2 includes Sidney Nebraska, Colton, Lodgepole with a Caboose on display, Chappell, Julesburg Colorado with a small 4-4-0 on display, Big Springs, Megeath, Ogallala, Alkali, Paxton, Sutherland, O'Fallons Wye, Hershey with a Caboose on display, Birdwood, & Ends at Bailey Yard in North Platte with the Golden Spike Tower, & Cody Park with Challenger 3977, & Centennial Unit 6922, which the sister engines 3985 for 3977, & 6936 for 6922 are owned by the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America in Silvis Illinois. A Mention of Part 1 from Cheyenne was shown as these 2 parts are Prequels to the Kearney Sub from North Platte to Grand Island which also stars 4014. Besides 7Idea, Trains Magazine, & Jim Parfrey of Steam Train Videos, was also on the Big Boy's first days trip to New Orleans.
