Union Pacific Odyssey Volume 2 from the camera of Emery Gulash takes you on a fantastic journey where Volume 1 left off. Volume 2 covers the 60's and 70's. You will see more first generation diesels, 'City' trains, New second generation diesels, more Big Blows (turbines), the Centennial locomotives, and DD-35's as well as many other older diesels. The Golden Spike Centennial at Promontory Point in 1969 is prominently covered including special trains from parts of the U.S. which converged on the scene for the reenactment. Many of those trains were pulled by steam! If you like steam, passenger trains and first generation diesels, then this beautiful production from the camera of world renowned rail photographer Emery Gulash is a production you won't want to miss. Made in 1993, Part 1 of Volume 2 contains the locations of Rawlins Wyoming, Creston, Salt Wells, Rock Springs, Castle Rock in Weber Canyon, Emory, Devil's Slide, Morgan, Peterson, American Fort, Hays, South Byron, Buffalo New York, Conneaut Ohio, Ft. Wayne Indiana, Moberly, Ellis, Laramie, Promontory Summit Utah during the 100th Birthday of the Golden Spike in 1969, Ogden, Clearfield, & Keysville. Besides the Union Pacific with 8444 & replicas of 119 & Central Pacific 60 known as the Jupiter, there are other Road Names like Southern Pacific, Nickel Plate Road with Berkshire 759 that is on display at Steamtown in Scranton Pennsylvania, New York Central, US Army with 2-8-0 number 612, Norfolk & Western, the early years of Amtrak, Chicago & Northwestern, & Santa Fe. Fun Fact: Hollywood Actor John Wayne was onboard Centennial Unit 6900's Consist. Nowadays, the first Centennial Unit is on display with Big Boy 4023 in Omaha Nebraska. Locations for Part 2 include Topeka Kansas, Sidney Nebraska, Somewhere East of Cheyenne, Hanna, Sinclair, Green River, Bitter Creek Canyon, Somonauk, Huntington, Hastings, Hayland, Rifle, Romulus, Ogallala, Roscoe, Bailey Yard in North Platte, Somewhere in Southern California, Archer Hill, Borie, & Ends at Sherman Hill. All in all, Bob Carrera did an outstanding job narrating this 2 part series.
