This was my very first Pentrex video I saw back in 1988 or so. Needless to say, seeing this again brought back memories. I was only like 14 at the time, and once my parents bought a VCR, I quickly became obsessed with train videos. My interest in trains goes back since I was a little boy, but once I found out they were available on video, my interest really sored after about 1988 or so. Back to Best of 1985, this is a great DVD. To me, the 1980s were the good old days of railroading. In this DVD, you will still see trains with cabooses. You will see Santa Fe F45s, and SP tunnel motors. You will also see lots of SD 40s from both railroads. You will see the SF Kodachrome paint scheme! You will also see trains with no ditch lights, you will see trains with mid train manned helpers! You will also even see rear end helpers being uncoupled ON THE MOVE on a BN train in Marias Pass! You will see Amtrak F40s, and Amtraks Phase II and Phase III Superliners. You will see the Desert Wind. Its hard to believe that I remember trains like this. I grew up with trains like these. I remember trains like these. I became fascinated with trains like these. All my HO model trains are like these. Best of 1985 DVD Big Harry (Dover, Pa.) on 2014-09-18 05:50:35.

A good overall compendium of railroading around the country, including many special events and movements Best of 1985 DVD Steamboy (Revere MA US) on 2017-06-28 09:13:13.
This Video shows mainly 95% Diesels on the Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Union Pacific, & Amtrak. The McCloud Ride is the only steam segment in this video. Not to mention a 30 second segment of the BC Rail. |
