Well it's gone. This really was the last winter for Tennessee Pass and what a pity it had to close. Taped in January 1997 with lots of snow and sunshine and superb scenery. This is one of the best tapes I've done, and getting on for being my best seller, it got good reviews in both "Trains" and "Railfan" magazines. Excellent trip, I only got dragged out of one ditch and had to be towed out of Pando by a wrecker. Seriously though, the scenery is just magnificent, the trains are working hard, and the sight and sound of 4 head end AC's, 4 AC swing helpers and 2 AC's on the rear of a mammoth coal train grinding through the double S-curves at Mitchell is an unforgettable experience.

Tennessee Pass is a legend for fans of big power mountain railroading. Highball does a fantastic job of presenting the final months of the pass in winter conditions. I enjoyed the variety of shooting locaations and angles. The sound quality is fantastic, the image quality is also great.."it was shot in 1997". I have been trying to collect all the Tenessee Pass DVD's showing the last years of operations before UP closed it down. This in one of the very best.

Tennessee Pass is gone. No more railroad action to be seen. So what a great final tribute to the Pass with this video. Lots of heavy trains working hard to get the product to market. The scenery is stunning. The deep pass makes for great sounds of the trains. The deep snow adds to the challenge the railroad crews had to deal with. Sad that it is over and gone into history, but great that we have this video to remember it.

All the footage in this movie where shot when the SP AC44s where new. You'll see plenty of them. My favorite from this DVD was a coal train that had power on the headend, middle and rear. It's a good DVD and I recommend it.
