There's no better time to photograph steam locomotives than during the winter season, where cold temperatures create great billowing of steam and dramatic effects.
Travel to Colorado and Utah to enjoy two steam railroads running freight specials during the winter months.
Enjoy watching Union Pacific #618 running on the Heber Valley Railroad in Utah, running alongside the frozen Deer Creek Reservoir with beautiful mountains in the background.
Then travel to Colorful Colorado and the famous Durango & Silverton where locomotive #473 treats us to two days of freight action alongside the lovely Animas River, with cold temperatures and snow on the ground.
If you like steam, then you'll want to add this program to your collection today!
Running time approx 90 minutes.

First let me say that Railway Productions are one of my favorite producers and I generally like their products. However, IMO this one's a clinker. The first half (approximate) of the disc is devoted to the Heber Valley RR in Utah with the remainder of the disc devoted to the Durango & Silverton RR in Colorado. The scenery in both halves is great. Otherwise, in their respective halves the entire subject matter is devoted to runbys by the same train, albeit at different locations. If you like repeated runbys by the same train then you'll enjoy this disc, but that isn't for me. The portion on the D&S did show some switching activity, in making up the train and later in repositioning two of the passenger cars. But, essentially, that's it. The photography is excellent (I watched in Blue Ray) and the narration, as usual for RP was adequate and descriptive. With RP one always knows what's happening and, usually, why it's happening. I like that.
