As part of it's 50th anniversary celebration, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad hosted an unprecedented gathering of 5 narrow gauge steam locomotives built in the 19th century - the Victorian Iron Horse Roundup. The five locomotives were Denver & Rio Grande 4-6-0 #168, Denver & Rio Grande 2-8-0 #425, Eureka & Palisade 4-4-0 #4 "Eureka," Carson and Tahoe Lumber and Fluming Co. 2-6-0 #1 "Glenbrook," and Rio Grande Southern 4-6-0 #20. This 2-disc video features comprehensive coverage of the 9-day event, with a combination of trackside video and aerial footage along the 64 miles between Antonito, CO and Chama, NM.
The Roundup featured numerous special excursions, with doubleheaders being the norm on most days. Eureka and Glenbrook (the two 1875 woodburners) were always operated together, while #168 and #425 also ran as a pair most of the time. RGS #20 was fired up and on display, but didn't operate any excursions until August 31st after the conclusion of the Roundup. Those trips are covered in the companion volume: Victorian Iron Horses on the C&TS - Vol. 2. In addition to complete coverage of the Roundup, this program includes a couple of special trips the week before the Victorian event.

i've finally had the chance to watch this and vol. 2 this week (with so much busy in life) victorian iron horses on the c&ts looks at the victorian iron horse event on the cumbres & toltec scenic railroad as part of the railroad's 50th anniversary in august of 2021 (this was planed for 2020 but was moved to 2021 because of the pandemic) the event featured 5 19th century steam locomotives rio grande ten wheeler 168 rio grande consolidation 315 (changed as no. 425)rio grande southern 20 from the colorado railway museum (which the 20 is covered more in the second vol) eureka & palisade american no. 4 and ten wheeler glenbrook there's complete coverage of the event trackside and by drone in edition there's also some historic passenger cars that have been restored for the event with most of the engines operating single and even double heading (especially with the two wood burner steam engines witch were the main star attractions) with the great scenery the c&ts has to offer a big part of what i liked was with all four engines on two diffrent trains operating at the same time this and vol 2 are incredible to watch the biggest steam event of the 2021 season these videos are not to be missed
