Once the pride of the VIA Rail Canada roster, the F7's were to be replaced eventually with the more modern F40's. In this video, we see some of the final days of VIA's F7's in the Canadian Rockies. The content is good, as we witness many locations in some very scenic places like the Spiral Tunnels, Kicking Horse Pass, Jasper, and Yellowhead Pass, etc... Couple things of note however: The time frame is in the mid 80's and the image quality could have been better. And the video starts on the CPR in Kicking Horse Pass, then north to the CNR to Yellowhead Pass, and returns to the CPR near Kicking Horse Pass. Personally, I questioned the reason for this with the jumping back and forth. These are 2 great regions for rail fanning, and a video of each Pass equal in length would be of great interest to passenger rail fans. Not a bad purchase, but a touch expensive for the content. Alongside the scenery, the early diesels, & the animals, there is also bonus action of various CP freights which are not used in the original 1986 edit. |
