Great DVD for any UP fan looking to understand how the system got how it is today. Even unique locomotive models are covered in the program.
Additional remarks by chi-townadam:
Narration: A little bit too much.
Would kids enjoy this? I doubt it.
Image quality: A little rough around the edges.
DVD Value: Good Value
Recommend to others? Yes.

Union Pacific at it's best.
Everything you want to know about the Union Pacific in one movie. Many different railroads, almost all the different diesel locomotives that appeared at one time or another on UP lines somewhere are found in this movie. BN, Rock Island, Milwaukee, SP, SF, WP, etc... The line up of UP's interesting roster is in detail from the F3's to the SD40's, to the DDA440X's, to the the U50C's. And forget the Turbines as they to make appearances. Also seen are a few Fairbank Morse engines that were being tested, but never purchased by the UP. From Chicago Illinois to Oakland, Cajon and Barstow California, it's all there.
The History told is excellent, along with the maps. Photo's from the early construction and Steam engines, to the people who made the UP what it is today. Scenes from the Salt Lake Causeway to Donner Pass, Cajon Pass and trackage rights on the then Sacramento Northern. Film footage from cabs, rear end of passenger trains and looking out the side along the trains. There are even some meets between Passenger and Freight trains.
Mergers, some that did, some that did not, are explained, all leading up to what is today's Union Pacific Railroad.
Near the close are scenes from the late 1980's and 90's giving that real "from start to current" feeling.
This is a movie that no person will question as to why purchasing it. It's a definite favorite.

This video makes you proud to be an American. The UP is an icon and EH Harrington was truely an empire builder. Its an incredible story told in vivid color and powerful imagery. This was a fun video to watch and I think anyone would enjoy the enormous locomotives hauling freight into Vegas with desert sand all over them. I've got to find more videos on the UP...
