The former Southern Pacific Sunset Route east of San Bernadino, California. Taped over 2 springs and a summer, there is still lots of SP power around, plus older UP power, though the merger is really starting to show. This is helper country, usually SD45's, sometimes on the head end, sometimes on the rear. The line runs through the orange groves of the scenic San Timeteo Canyon, over Beaumont Summit and down to the desert. Lots of action.

This program covers Union Pacific's former Southern Pacific line over Beaumont Hill from Loma Linda to Palm Springs, CA. Many freight trains are featured with both UP and precedessor SP power and features both mid-train and rear-end helpers. One of those freight trains was interesting in that it had a leased Amtrak F40PH as the second unit as UP was leasing several of Amtrak's former signature locomotive at the time of the visit. Speaking of Amtrak, although this program is mainly on freight trains, there is one shot of Amtrak's Sunset Limited Train #1 in daylight as it was running very late.
