Pentrex and 7idea productions were the first 2 Big Boy 4014 videos Ive purchased since coming back from the 2019 trip and it was THE greatest excursion trip ever not just the whole decade of 2010s, but in my life. While I did not bought this video from here, I purchased it from Railfan Depot. Both Train Video Depot and Railfan Depot are great websites to visit. I felt Pentrex did a fine job on their own version of Big Boy 4014 and the Golden Spike 150 celebration but I was a little disappointed with a few reasons. First, when the steam train departed from the whistle stop at Carter, Utah, a freight train came into view blocking the steam train angle which kind of leaves you downhearted at times. Secondly, some of the locations that were filmed were out of sync film which is kind of odd, and thirdly, the video has no bonus materials or chapters menus since Pentrex merged with highball productions in 2017. Dave Drui was the first narrator Ive ever listened since I was a young kid and hes a fan favorite for anyone who loves trains and locomotives. In the Pentrex version of the Union Pacific Big Boy 4014 revival, there are several interviews with Trains Magazine editor Jim Wrinn, Amazing animated maps of the Doubleheader route from Cheyenne to Ogden & back, plus some Drone footage from the sky, as well as the southbound test run from Cheyenne to Nunn. Note the the single Truck on the left side of the screen as it was revealed that the one car chaser was live-streaming the test run on social media (well, only Instagram). There is also clips from the Union Pacific Big Boy collection from 2001, and Big Boy 4014 update. Plus some other films from WB video productions, and some footage of the 4014 & 844 doubleheader and the nose to nose ceremony on May 9th hosted by the railroad's president & CEO Lance Fritz was shot by Les Jarrett From Railway Productions, James Parfrey of Steam Train Video, and several folks from AIRAIL images. While this is an incredible look at the Pentrex coverage of the Big Boy 4014 Revival, It doesn't have any auto-chapters, nor the selected menu pages, ever since the Company moved from Southern California in Pasadena across the country to Indianapolis in the spring of 2017. You'll have to watch this whole thing like a videotape. Oh and in the previews after the Big Boy revival, there is a trailer for the DVD conversion of the Pentrex version of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Rotary Snowplow OY on the first weekend of May 1991. |
