In the spring of 2010, Union Pacific’s Living Legend 844 traveled on former valley eagle line in Oklahoma and Texas. The first 5 minutes of the show has graphic details on the locomotive and valley eagle on the Mo-PAC mainline. But when the action began at Parsons, Kansas on April 8, the narration was gone. This video is a great one but there are no chapters in this one and sadly, this 2010 excursion trip would be the last one of long time employee Lynn Nystrom before he passed away from a massive coronary just one day before I graduated from school. Steve Lee would retire in November of that year and Ed Dickens would soon takeover as the new senior manager of steam operations the following season. 844 has the distinction of not only the last new steam locomotive bought in 1944 but it is also the only steam locomotive in America that has never been retired from Union Pacific roster.
