Not many of us will ever get to Cape Town in South Africa and be able to see the Cape of Good Hope in person. This video is as much a tourist type video as it is a rail road video. And that really makes it Great. Having cousins living in Johannasburg, I was very interested to get this video, and I loved it very much. Seeing the scenic beauty of the region is awesome. And the Kruger National Park with all the wildlife..... Words can't say enough about the excellence of the video. The train ride shows so much that would be wonderful to see in person. Fantastic. I guess I keep hoping this producer will produce another fine product like "Silverton Train". Otherwise I don't know why I buy his product. Including reviews this (Trans Karoo) was a two hour program with less than ten minutes (liberal estimate) of narration. It would be nice to know what one is looking at, where one was, etc. Constant noise masquerading as music. Awful. One can turn it off but then one also loses whatever narration there is. Why can't producers when offering these turn on/off services divorce the music from the narration? Photography was superb, but in Blue Ray that's what one would expect. This was more travelogue than a train movie. Lots of flora and fauna but, by and large, without any identification of what was being shown. I'll save it for my son, who has been to and likes South Africa, to watch and then it goes to the local public library. |
