Trains Across the Midwest Vol 4 - CVision 4.5 of 5 (2)
The Midwest is full of railroad action with Short Lines, Regionals and the big Class One's! C. Vision returns to this railroad rich region in "Trains Across the Midwest, Volume 4!"
In this volume we first travel to Milbank, South Dakota. Here the city hosts Train Fest each August and with it, the Sisseton Milbank Railroad operates the Whetstone Valley Express. We capture the final Whetstone Valley Express train that that was to be run for this event in the year 2005. This train was a delight for all passengers that rode. We get trackside views and from the cab scenes of the run, including a train robbery!
Then we head to west central Wisconsin and check out the action of a new shortline! The Wisconsin Northern Railroad, which is a division of Progressive Rail in Minnesota, operates the former Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha line from Rice Lake to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and a portion of the former Soo Line main from Barron to Cameron. Two beautifully painted GP-15 dash 1's take charge of this line operating in a unique push-pull fashion.
Finally, we follow two Union Pacific lines in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Here we make chase to follow not only U.P. trains, but the last three Chicago and North Western locomotives that were left on the U.P. roster! CNW number 8646, 8701 and 8575 made rounds on the former CNW lines in late 2005 and early 2006. C. Vision cameras capture several different trains that were led with these units on the Altoona Sub and Mankato Sub. We see all three units leading trains throughout this segment! If you are a fan of the Chicago and North Western, you really can't miss this one!!!
Awesome mainline action, diverse Short Lines and Regionals make the Midwest one of the best places to watch trains. C. Vision takes you there in "Trains Across the Midwest, Volume 4!"

Trains Across the Midwest Vol 4 - CVision Railnut (Littleton,Co) on 2012-02-19 07:08:47.
Good mix of railroads around the midwest are shown. If anything could be changed , I would have liked to see more in depth coverage of the less known railroad. But a good video no less.
Additional remarks by Railnut: Narration: Just enough. Would kids enjoy this? Maybe. Image quality: Good. DVD Value: Good Value Recommend to others? Yes.
Trains Across the Midwest Vol 4 - CVision rrvideoman on 2008-08-28 09:48:37.
C-Vision has brought us another fine video presentation of railroad action in America's Midwest. Like all the Trains Across the Midwest series, we are treated to shortline/regional action, and mainline Class 1 action. The Progressive Rail owned Wisconsin Northern is the featured shortline, and not a disappointment for rail fans with some GP15's in charge. Mainline Class 1 action is another favorite, the UP, with the special addition of some Chicago & Northwestern power as they make their appearances near the end of their lives in C&NW paint schemes. However this video varies a wee bit with the start as we have the joy of seeing some tourist train action with a small twist. A trip to see the Whetstone Valley Express in action with it's small little engine as it makes it's way on an excursion run. The twist to the action is a train robbery that is featured, complete with horses and what could have been real life events at one time. Like most C-Vision productions, narration is limited to the scene at hand, and we can listen to the natural sounds of the trains as they work. Always a joy for the railfan in all of us. A great video that is a must to own.
Additional remarks by rrvideoman: Narration: Just enough. Would kids enjoy this? Definitely! Image quality: Excellent! DVD Value: Excellent Value! Recommend to others? Definitely.
