The Lordsburg Subdivision is part of the former Southern Pacific's Sunset Route. When Pentrex last visited in 1995 the line was still SP, and chock full of red-nosed EMDs. Union Pacific merged the Southern Pacific out of existence in 1996, so there have been many changes since our first visit. That 1995 show, "The Stormy, Southern Pacific's Lordsburg District", has been a fan favorite since its release. Railfans often asked for an update now that the line is Union Pacific. We've answered that call with this release, "The Stormy, 25 Years Later". A lot can happen in 25 years! Enjoy this update on the "Stormy" and this portion of the Sunset Route.

The Lordsburg section of the famed Sunset Route runs through country where you can see the horizon for miles, so you can see a storm coming for miles. That's how the line got its nickname. It's one thing that has not changed with the coming of Union Pacific: You can still see those storms coming from miles away. Everything else is subject to change under "Uncle Pete's" ownership. The first change is that "District" is out and "Subdivision" is in. Another change will be a lot fewer EMD locomotives. It's nearly all GE now.

See the line as it is now, full Union Pacific, from our visit in 2020. With informative narration, video and maps we'll concentrate on the "new" Lordsburg Sub. This is still a busy line maybe even busier now than when Southern Pacific power led the trains.
