The rugged majesty of the Colorado Rockies sets the backdrop for this historic route running west out of Denver. Between the west bore of the famed Moffat Tunnel and Glenwood Springs lies 130 miles of high mountain parks and deep colorful canyons.

After exiting the 6.2 mile long Moffat Tunnel, the grade lessens allowing trains to sprint through the Colorado high country. Loaded coal trains put on a fantastic show of raw horsepower verses gravity, with remote swing and rear-end helpers. We'll visit Gore and Little Gore Canyons, Byers Canyon, the spectacular Dotsero Cutoff, Glenwood Canyon and the Crater Loops on the Craig Branch.

This is one of the most scenic railroads in the west! Part of Union Pacific's Denver Area, this line sees mainly coal traffic out of western Colorado and eastern Utah. BNSF operates trains over the Moffat via trackage rights and Amtrak's California Zephyr runs each way daily between Chicago and the west coast. As trains follow the course of the Colorado River, one awe inspiring vista opens up after another. The Rio Grande called this "The Scenic Line of the World" and you will see why in The Moffat Road Part 2: Winter Park to Glenwood Springs!

Fantastic scenery! 7 Idea Productions is the BEST and when I shop I look at their offerings ahead of any others. The camera angles and scene perspectives mark Aaron as not just a photographer but a photographer artist. One wonders how he gets some of the shots and I think he might just have some mountain goat in him! :>)

I´m very worried to don´t saw many images from Craig Branch... It´s a pity! - Well, so, no one productor have covered this area. A Pentrex DVD is a good choice too (some cab ride and most extensive Craig Branch scnes): I have both, but this has the better quality.

This review is of both Vol 1 & 2. These are top notch productions that will be enjoyed for many years to come. There is enough time compression and unusual but enjoyable camera angles to make things quite interesting. It is also something I would never have the vacation time to replicate. So in that sense both productions are a superb value and the Blu-Ray in Colorado is sensational.
Even my wife, not a rail fan, greatly enjoyed these and she graduated high school in the Denver area.

We would have enjoyed some additional narrative associated with history as well the aqueduct through Moffat Tunnel cascading down the creek on the east side.

Maybe things like this could be a supplemental chapter since they are railroad related but so close to the action one could not but notice them.

We have nearly all the 7Idea productions in our collection and have greatly
enjoyed every one of them multiple times.

Absolutely fantastic documentary once again. Even if you aren't keen on trains, the scenery and spectacularly sharp images will impress. This Bluray sets a new benchmark in railroad documentary standards for others to try and emulate. Thank you 7idea.

First off i own everything 7idea has released and there is not a bad dvd in the bunch!!! Bluray makes it even better and the way they tell the story of the history of the line as well as the section of track by name or the towns and city it passes thru makes 7idea productions the best period!!! Anyhow the moffet road always had a speical place in my heart since rideing thru on the california zepher in 1964 and seeing all of the tunnals and awesome scenery!!! EVER SINCE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET ENOUGH!!!! ;-) That is one of the reasons i love train so much is because i have spent so much time around them in differnt part of the country!!!
