When Tom Miller was a boy, he built his first model locomotive with his dad. From then on he was hooked! Now a Master Model Builder, Tom designs and builds 2.5-inch scale live steam models for his own 20-acre layout. Built around a 7-1/2" track gauge, Tom's exquisitely scaled locomotives and rolling stock raise the bar for live steam layouts.
In this program you will see Tom's entire layout, shop, the two K 30 locomotives he built, and some of the 60+ cars in his barn, plus Tom's own narrative of how he designed and built this fantastic layout. You will travel more than two miles of track through Tom's 325-foot tunnel, over the 410-foot trestle with a truss bridge 30 feet above the creek, through cuts, past passenger platforms, coaling towers, and watering stations, over switches, and by dozens of working signals and other features that make Tom Miller's live steam layout unique.
Now, put yourself in the cab of Tom Miller's K-36 Mikado and open the throttle for a loop around one of the finest live steam layouts you have ever seen!
Total Running Time: Approx. 60 Minutes Color and Black & White

Wow! Tom may just be the luckiest guy on earth! This is a tour of an immaculate live steam railroad. No expense was spared. This was NOT a guy with a hammer and shovel building this thing. We're talking heavy machinery, cranes, load after load of dump trucks. I was also impressed with the camera work. They must have had one of those remote control cameras on a crane as there were several shots where the camera "flew" over the tracks and train. Ultra smooth and professional. If you're into live steam, this is one you'll want to see! Highly enjoyable.

Fascinating look at what an almost unlimited budget can produce. It's so "over the top" that it's hard to be jealous! Exactly the movie to show the wife how restrained your own efforts are.
Hollywood quality filmwork, slightly marred by commentator who was hard pressed to find enough superlatives.
