The beginning of the return to rail transportation in Los Angeles. Built early in the 20th Century by the Pacific Electric, but only freight since 1961. Restored to electric passenger service in July 1990, this line is 22 miles long with a scheduled running time of 57 minutes. It is already a heavy hauler, moving nearly 40,000 passengers daily and the volume of traffic is evident in this program. Then for complete coverage of service on the Red Line Subway. These pictures were taken just days after opening. This a conventional heavy rail line, with cars similar to Miami’s. This program is primarily cab rides on both lines.
